A new sweet shop opened in Darlington town centre opened this year and is proving to be a massive success . With lots of sugary stuff on offer for the public from day one, the colourful premises of the outlet named The Retro Sweet Shop was full of customers. The crowds got a chance to taste the stuff that local entrepreneur Sannae Aljabory offered them in the form of traditional sweets.
She is a 24 year old woman who started only last year selling sweets in a market. Her sweets proved so popular with the locals that her business that earned her £170 a day soon rocketed up to £3000 a week as she battled to meet the demands of her customers.
Talking about her stock, she says that her sweets were once very popular but went out of demand and it became hard to find them in the market. With the trend being for everything retro however, people are now actively hunting for the sweets that formed a major part of their childhood.
The most popular of her sweets are Jellybelly’s and Lucky Charms and by using social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter to advertise her wares she started to get queries from further afield, leading her to make the decision to go on the just-eat.co.uk website and start home deliveries.
Sannae Aljabory is currently busy planning a Christmas event where Santa will pay a visit to the kids and distribute sweets to them. The Retro Sweet Shop is open 6 days of the week, Monday-Saturday from 9.30am to 5.30pm.
